There is currently an ongoing effort by hackers to take over people’s GoDaddy accounts.  Please check your GoDaddy accounts and make sure that you have the two-factor authentication activated.  Even if you purchased your domain from another source besides GoDaddy, we strongly encourage you to activate a second layer of security, like the 2F authentication, as soon as possible.  Instructions on how to do so for GoDaddy can be found here.

We strongly recommend that you activate it yourself and not through your web designer/developer.  If they activate it you won’t be able to go in and update billing information without contacting your web designer/developer.

Here are a few ways you can protect your login credentials:

1.  If you have stored your passwords on Bing Password Manager, Google Password Manager, or any other online password managers through a web browser, please delete these passwords immediately!

2.  Download a 2FA Two Factor Authentication app like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.  Then set up a 2-factor authentication on Go Daddy.  Instructions on how to do so can be found here.

3.  Change your passwords now if they have not been updated in quite some time.  Make sure to use at least 10 characters and include punctuation marks.

4.  Delete old credit cards.

5.  Never share personal and account information over the phone or via email.  Contact the vendor in question by calling them directly or if you have visited the vendor’s website before, request a chat session.

One last thing, having an IT person who can help set up cybersecurity on your computers would be a great way to protect your computers from ongoing cyber attacks.
